Assessing Changes

At Love and Dignity, we understand how much your pet means to you, and we are here to support you with compassion and understanding through this difficult stage of their life. Recognizing signs of discomfort or declining health in your pet is key to ensuring they feel supported and comfortable.

Slide When to Consider Hospice or Euthanasia If your pet has been diagnosed with a chronic illness or if their health is deteriorating, consider the following factors to assess their quality of life:
  • Pain Management: Is your pet in pain that cannot be managed by medication or other therapies?
  • Mobility: Is your pet able to move comfortably and without assistance?
  • Enjoyment: Does your pet still enjoy activities they once loved?
  • Hygiene: Can your pet maintain their hygiene, or do they require assistance?
  • Emotional Well-being: Does your pet seem anxious, depressed, or withdrawn?
  • Appetite: Is your pet still interested in eating their meals?
If you are concerned about any of these aspects, we recommend reaching out for a hospice consultation to explore your options.
