Surgery

As an urgent care and emergency veterinary hospital we also perform anesthetic surgeries. At Priority Pet Care Veterinary Hospital, we understand that surgery can cause anxiety for pet owners, which is why we prioritize patient safety and comfort. Our skilled veterinarian can perform a range of procedures, and our support team is dedicated to providing compassionate and expert care. If we are unable to perform the procedure your pet requires, we will refer you to a local surgeon or your primary care veterinarian if appropriate.

We do not perform routine ovariohysterectomies or neuters.

Soft tissue surgery

Our veterinarian can perform a wide range of soft tissue surgeries, ranging in complexity from minor mass removals to emergency abdominal procedures. Our team uses modern surgical techniques, advanced monitoring equipment, and trained team members to ensure pet safety and comfort at all times. Soft tissue surgeries we offer include:

  • Mass removal
  • Cesarean Section
  • Cystotomy
  • Pyometra
  • Exploratory Laparotomy
  • Splenectomy
  • Organ biopsy
  • Enterotomy

Orthopedic surgery

Our hospital is able to offer specialized orthopedic procedures to reduce pain and restore function in pets with orthopedic injuries or diseases. These surgeries are performed by a travelling orthopedic surgeon and require an appointment. Some of the surgeries we offer include:

  • Cranial cruciate ligament repair (TPLO)
  • Hip repair (FHO)
  • Luxating patella repair

TPLO

Tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) is an advanced orthopedic procedure used to treat cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injuries in dogs and restore normal knee function. Our surgical team has extensive experience performing TPLO surgeries and ensuring optimal post-operative recovery. TPLO is a good choice for dogs of any size or activity level but provides especially good outcomes for large, active breeds.

Sedated Minor Procedures

We are able to perform more minor procedures under sedation. Sedated procedures do not require full anesthesia. Your pet will be monitored closely by trained staff members before, during, and after the procedure. Minor procedures we perform include:

  • Lacerations
  • Broken toenails
  • Dog Bite Wounds
  • Abscesses

Dentistry

Pet dental health is often overlooked but has critical implications for your pet’s quality of life and well-being. Our team provides professional pet dentistry services to treat existing oral health conditions such as a broken tooth or an abscessed tooth. We offer this service to individuals without a primary care veterinarian, those referred by their primary care veterinarian, or if their primary care veterinarian has a long wait time  to address a broken or abscessed tooth.

Dental cleanings and Oral surgery

During a professional dental cleaning, trained team members remove plaque and tartar buildup above and below the gum line, take dental X-rays, and polish your pet’s teeth. Dental X-rays provide focused images that allow us to see each tooth’s entire structure, including the root, and identify common issues, including tooth root abscesses, bone loss, tooth resorption, and unerupted teeth. Our veterinary team performs full-mouth dental X-rays each time your pet is anesthetized for a dental cleaning or oral surgery. Our veterinarians perform a comprehensive oral examination and appropriately treat problem teeth.

Many dental problems require surgical intervention to remove diseased teeth. Our veterinary team can perform a range of dental procedures to address complex dental issues, including oral tumors. We send each pet home with personalized recommendations for home care and follow-up.
