Dr. O’Neil is certified in veterinary acupuncture and has been effectively treating pets with acupuncture for many years. Acupuncture is a treatment that involves the stimulation of points, typically achieved through the insertion of specialized needles into the body. Each acupuncture point has specific actions when stimulated. Acupuncture can stimulate nerves, increase blood circulation, relieve muscle spasm, and cause the release of hormones such as endorphins (one of the body’s pain control chemicals) and cortisol (a natural steroid).
