Dog Behavior Manager
From a young age, I was dedicated to animal care. Volunteering at local shelters, fostering animals, assisting with adoption drives, and supporting low-cost vaccination events. I took every chance I could to get involved and build experience in the field.
In my 20s, I began working in boarding facilities as kennel staff and worked my way up into management roles. I also gained experience as a veterinary technician, where I developed knowledge in animal health and wellness. My passion for behavior and training led me to work with a professional K9 training company and eventually manage a board-and-train facility, giving me hands-on experience in both obedience training and behavioral support.
I joined Pawlins when we opened in September 2019, and since then, I’ve worked in every position throughout the facility. Over the years, I’ve built strong relationships with so many of our regular client animals and their families while making lasting connections with the new pets who come to see us every day.
Pawlins is exceedingly more than just a job to me, it’s a family. The animals, the staff, and the community we’ve built here mean the world to me. I feel incredibly lucky to work under the leadership of Mark and Laure Starring, and to be part of such a strong partnership with the Wheelers at River Road Veterinary Hospital.

My love for animals started at a very young age. I’ve had pets of all kinds throughout my life, thanks to my animal loving parents who nurtured the compassion I carry today. In high school, I was a dedicated volunteer with my local humane society, helping with adoption events, vaccination drives, and even serving as an officer.
I went on to study Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism in college and spent over 15 years in the service industry. Managing everything from lively Bourbon Street clubs to serving as a Training General Manager for a major sports bar franchise. My time in hospitality taught me that New Orleans culture is rooted in treating everyone, guests and team members, like family.
When the opportunity to join Pawlins came along, I was thrilled to reconnect with my passion for animals while bringing my hospitality background to the table. I’ve been part of the Pawlins family since April 2021, and with the inspiring leadership of the Starrings and our incredible partnership with Wheelers at RRVH, I’m proud to call this place my home.
Hi, I’m Michelle, and I’ve been professionally grooming since August 2015. My heart beats a little faster for water retrievers and those gorgeous curly coats, with a special fondness for Standard Poodles. I also love getting creative with fun haircuts and even safe color applications! What’s truly rewarding for me is working with dogs who might be a little nervous about grooming. I team up with both the pets and their owners to build positive experiences, helping dogs feel safe and maybe even learn to enjoy their pampering sessions!
Hi, I’m Leonard. My journey in the pet world began way back in 1997, and I’ve been a professional pet groomer and show dog handler ever since! My experience is pretty diverse, from the exciting world of dog shows (specializing in terriers and herding breeds) to working in corporate salons, cozy boutiques, and even veterinary hospitals and boarding/training facilities. I even had my own mobile grooming business! My goal is always to make grooming as stress-free as possible for your beloved pets. Patience, trust, and understanding a dog’s body language are essential in my book. I focus on quality over rushing, ensuring each grooming session is thorough and tailored to your pet’s unique needs. I’m excited to meet your furry companions and give them the dedicated attention they deserve.
Hi, I’m Keri, and my journey in the wonderful world of pet grooming began in 2011. Starting as a bather and blossoming into a groomer two years later, my love for animals has always been my guiding star. I’ve been with Pawlins since the very beginning, and I’m proud to be part of a team that feels like family. I’ve been close friends with fellow groomers Ashley and Andre for over a decade, and working alongside them makes every day even more special. I treat every single pet who comes into my care as if they were my own, showering them with the same love and attention I give my own furry family. Your pup’s comfort and well-being are always my top priority!
Hello, I’m Casy, and with 27 years of grooming experience under my belt, you could say it’s more than just a job – it’s a true passion! Even on challenging days, seeing a pup strut out looking their best makes it all worthwhile. I’m a firm believer that a fantastic groom starts with a thorough bath and blow dry, and I take my time to ensure every pet receives the care they deserve. Schnauzers and Pomeranians hold a special place in my heart! Clear communication with pet parents is key for me – I want to understand exactly what you’re looking for and will always take the time to discuss everything to ensure we’re on the same page. Some coats and temperaments need a little extra time, and I’m always happy to provide the individual attention needed for top-notch results.
Hey there, I’m Ashley! My deep love for animals has been a lifelong passion, and I knew early on that I wanted to spend my days making them feel their best. I’ve been professionally grooming since March 2012 (and in the industry since August 2011!). While I enjoy working with all breeds, I have a special soft spot for the little guys and those gorgeous curly coats. I’m always eager to learn new techniques and love finding inspiration from around the globe to give each pet a little extra flair! Got a question? Hi, I’m Ansley! I’ve been grooming for two years, and I especially enjoy working my magic on Shih Tzus and Doodles. My focus is on bringing out the best in every dog, and I love creating those clean, short faces that keep them comfy and looking sharp! Building a bond with each dog I groom is one of my favorite parts of the job – making sure they feel at ease is so important to me. My love for animals shines through in my work, and I can’t wait to meet your precious pup!

My grooming journey started back in 2011, and I’ve had the privilege of growing from a bather to a groomer and now leading this fantastic team. Schnauzers and other terrier breeds have a special place in my heart. Grooming isn’t just a job for me; it’s a deep passion that started during my college years. Since starting at Pawlins, I’ve gotten married and become a proud dad—it’s been a beautiful journey, both personally and professionally. Those life changes have only deepened my appreciation for the responsibility I have when caring for your pets. My own dog and two cats are like my kids! While I always strive to meet your expectations, my top priority will always be what’s best for the pups in our care.
