At MTCAC, we believe routine wellness and preventive care is the key to longer, healthier, and happier pet lives.
We partner with pet owners to provide individualized, comprehensive wellness services that keep their pets optimally healthy and detect potential problems early. Well and preventative care includes complete questionnaires about nutrition, behavior, exercise, lifestyle, along with thorough physical exams, immunizations, diagnostic tests, and medications or supplements.
Wellness visits
At MTCAC, we recommend annual wellness visits for cats and dogs under 8 yrs of age and semi-annual wellness visits for 9+ years old. This may change based on certain breeds or if chronic health conditions are present. These visits are the cornerstone of your pet’s preventive healthcare plan. Wellness visits are essential because they allow us to establish a health baseline and monitor your pet for changes over time. They also allow for early disease detection, which leads to more effective treatment and better outcomes.
During a wellness visit, our veterinarians conduct a thorough physical and behavioral assessment. You are encouraged to ask questions and raise any concerns you might have, and we’ll discuss recommended screening tests, products or services to keep your pet in optimal condition.
Vaccinations
Vaccinations are essential for preventing infectious diseases that can cause serious health issues. By vaccinating your pet, you not only protect them but also help control the spread of pet diseases in the community. Our hospital offers a full range of core and non-core vaccines for dogs and cats and will work with you to develop a customized vaccine protocol. We follow the current AAHA, AVMA, and AAFP current recommendations.
Vaccine titers
Vaccine titers are blood tests that measure your pet’s antibody levels to determine if booster vaccinations are necessary. Checking a titer can be helpful for pets with a history of adverse vaccine reactions or for pet parents who prefer them. Titers are available only for select vaccinations and don’t take the place of vaccination, but instead allow you to make more informed decisions about your pet’s care.
