What is PRP?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a concentrated platelet product used to modulate pain and stimulate healing. By utilizing an allogenic pooled platelet product from carefully screened donors, we ensure a uniform and consistent number of active, sterile platelets that are ready for use. These platelets contain growth factors, clotting factors, and bio-reactive molecules that promote healing and tissue regeneration. When applied to affected tissues, the platelets release chemical signals that trigger the body to send stem cells and white blood cells to the area for repair. PRP can be used alone or in combination with stem cell therapy, depending on the condition being treated, as some conditions respond better to one therapy over the other.

How is a treatment given?

Dosing, frequency of administration and method of administration varies with the condition being treated.

In general, the affected area needs to be “bathed” by the PRP. This generally involves either an injection into the affected tissue or topical application if it is being used during surgery.
